Weaving poems
The art of poetic weaving
Weaving is a Lyon tradition that flourished and reached its peak in the 19th century. In fact, the word text comes from the Latin textus, meaning to weave. So there is a link between weaving and writing, simply by virtue of the fact that the movement of the shuttle in weaving machines went from left to right, then from right to left, as in the earliest forms of European writing. Ancient Greek, for example, was written first from right to left, then in both directions, and finally from left to right. This movement is called boustrophedon.
So for me, it's a question of weaving poems like weaving a canvas, associating a plastic as well as a physical gesture, in the spirit of the boustrophedon, like a puppeteer.
Weaving poems consists of defending a whole in the same way that a single fabric is constructed from different silk threads, while respecting the sensibility of each poet and his or her singular way of perceiving the world.
